Owned by the same crew as Asian Beer Café in Melbourne Central and situated above QV, opposite the State Library, Father’s office is a fantastic spot for lunch, dinner or just drinks. It is 1920’s themed, but not suffocatingly so. This place is really about good food and drinks and a bit of fun. It is a big location with a balcony wrapping around the restaurant offering great views of central Melbourne. You can absolutely settle in here for hours. The place itself is very cool with an American feel. The ladies dressed up in black lace and fancy hairpieces and the men wear vest straps. The restaurant is separated into 2 parts – one for the bar and other like a café/eatery.
The menu is American themed offers very high quality burgers for surprisingly reasonable prices. The menu isn’t limited to burgers though. Highly recommend is their pork belly that is melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Also give the bowl of crackling a crack if you don’t mind feeling your arteries fill up just a little. They also offer half price late night dinner from 11pm Wednesday to Saturday, so really, what is not to love?
The 1920’s theme gives the place a great and fun vibe. It is an unassuming venue that appears to be curated in a way as to promote people having a good time. Father’s office ticks all the lazy-dining boxes. Settle in for good food, reasonable drinks and a fun atmosphere.
