Those of you who might have noticed that Rare Steakhouse has featured twice on this coveted list. Well, it does so because there are more than one of them in our beloved CBD and they are equally GOOD!

This particularly lovely joint is at the Little Collins location. As you enter, it will be on the more upmarket side than Squire’s Loft with white table cloths and a more modern ambience. The waitresses are all fairly young which positively appeal to the business clientele. They all are very friendly and welcoming (just the way it should be). As you sit down, you will be offered olives and pickled onions with bread as a complimentary starter which sets quite a nice touch.

Starting with the entree, you must have their famous Pork Spare ribs. The pork is so succulent that it will leave you licking your fingers, and you’ll definitely fight over who is going to have the last rib! (Trust the makers, it is THAT good). Coming down to meatier business, their steak is perfectly cooked- medium rare. And on top of that, a side of mashed potatoes adds a spectacular change instead of having the usual side of chips. But that’s not the best part. Not even close. The best thing on the menu is the 200g Eye Fillet with a side of Fries and Black Peppercorn Sauce. You can try the porterhouse, Angus versions, rib-eye, etc, with a side of mashed potatoes or baked potato, they’re all great. Made really, very darn well! Requiring special mention is their eye-fillet. It is what hits the spot. And to finish the sumptuous meal you can top the night off with their dessert- personal favourite is the Sticky Date pudding with Butterscotch sauce and Ice Cream.
