Simply Spanish is a restaurant at the South Melbourne Market and completely visible if you pass by Cecil St. The outdoor area is spacey, able to accommodate a large group of people and best to enjoy during spring or summer. Even though the indoor area is small, limited space and a bit cramped. Latin musicians lift up the atmosphere. The shades of orange and red just make this place a typical Spanish theme.
Very popular place! Loving the music! Nice for drinks and small tapas! It is always jam packed hence the turnover of their famous paella keeps the food very fresh. The service is usually really good although the waitresses are pressured for the time due to the demand for tables and service. It’s not the type of place that you can sit and relax at for this very reason. People are waiting for tables and space is tight as it is. It’s a great place to come and have a quick and good bite to eat. Not to mention the sangria is awesome!! We at 10KT, love this place.
The garlic prawn starter is really fresh, and light, and with 5 decent size pieces. The chicken pieces are bland for Spanish tastes and so is the Chorizo. As a combination, it is tasty without being earth shattering, and for the cost, we would have liked a bit more quantity, given it is a shared 2 person dish.
